COURSE OVERVIEW
Beach sand collapse incidents are low-frequency but high-consequence emergencies that demand an immediate and coordinated response. Victims can become entrapped or completely buried within seconds, creating life-threatening conditions that require specialized rescue techniques and equipment. Unlike traditional trench incidents, beach environments present unique challenges including unstable sand, changing tides, limited access, shifting terrain, and the absence of fixed reference points.
This program provides first responders, lifeguards, beach patrol personnel, and rescue agencies with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely locate, access, and extricate victims trapped in beach sand collapses. Through classroom discussion and hands-on training evolutions, students will learn proven rescue techniques, equipment deployment, incident management considerations, and lessons learned from real-world incidents.
