COURSE OVERVIEW
Electrical Safety for Firefighters & First Responders is a 3 hour classroom-based program designed to provide a foundational understanding of electricity and its associated hazards in emergency environments. Students will learn key electrical principles including voltage, current, resistance, and system distribution while gaining the ability to recognize and avoid common electrical dangers such as downed wires, faulty equipment, arcing, and overheating.
The course emphasizes real-world applications including identifying utility conductor configurations, accurately reporting hazards, and positioning apparatus safely on scene. Additional topics include the effects of electricity on the body, shock severity, victim assessment, PPE considerations, and hazard recognition, equipping responders with the knowledge needed to operate safely and reduce the risk of electrical injury.
