COURSE OVERVIEW

Pump Operations combines classroom instruction and hands-on training to prepare firefighters for safe and effective fire apparatus pump operations. Aligned with NFPA 1002 and based on the IFSTA Pumping Apparatus curriculum, the course covers water supply, hydraulics, pumping techniques, and troubleshooting. Students complete practical exercises and must demonstrate proficiency in operating pumps, managing flows and pressures, and maintaining a reliable water supply.

PUMP OPERATIONS

32 Hours

Combines classroom instruction and hands-on training to prepare firefighters for safe and effective fire apparatus pump operations. Aligned with NFPA 1002 and the IFSTA Pumping Apparatus curriculum, the course covers water supply, hydraulics, pumping techniques, and troubleshooting with required skill proficiency.

PUMP OPERATIONS REFRESHER 12 Hours

8+ Hours (optional depending on need)

Provides firefighters with the opportunity to reinforce the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate a pumping apparatus at emergency incidents. Based on the IFSTA Pumping Apparatus Driver/Operator program, it meets NFPA 1002 objectives through a combination of lecture and hands-on training.

SKILL MODULES

All individual skill modules can be delivered as stand-alone training sessions, giving departments the flexibility to tailor training to their specific operational needs, staffing levels, and scheduling constraints. Whether used to reinforce core competencies, address identified gaps, or provide focused skill development, each module can be scheduled independently and delivered on-site to align with your department’s availability and training objectives.
